 Digging Deeper: How AI Influences Healthcare

Artificial intelligence (AI) has dramatically affected careers in all fields and industries. As a student, I haven't seen the effects of it as much as others in the working field have. However, I know it is something that is going to affect the future of healthcare- the career I am pursuing. With this in mind, I did some research on my own of the ways AI has recently influenced all parts of healthcare. 

Healthcare is a field where people would least expect AI to be. However, recent events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have proved these perspectives to be wrong. An article written by The University of St. Augustine mentions how artificial intelligence will improve healthcare in 4 ways: (1)Improve diagnostics/detecting diseases, (2) advancing treatment, (3) boosting patient engagement and adherence, (4) and supporting administrative and operational workflow (2020). Nonetheless, the advancements brought from AI will allow a healthcare provider to quickly make the appropriate medical decisions needed. 

In regards to the pandemic, AI was effectively being used to expedite the research on anything related to the virus and vaccine. Specifically, the advancements made it easier for scientists, researchers, and healthcare providers to develop a vaccine, track the virus, and conduct research and analyze the demographics associated with the virus (2020). 

AI in the healthcare field is more than getting robots to perform surgery. AI can revolutionize the ways scientists and researchers look at diseases and cures. It can also push the limits and extent to which innovations and discoveries are made, moving healthcare and medicine one step ahead. As a future leader in healthcare, I hope to keep up with the ways of artificial intelligence and use it to my advantage towards making a difference in patient care and treatment.

 What to expect from AI in 2023 AI, as we have seen so far,  is rapidly evolving, whether it might be in medicine, digital art, or even culinary.
