 Artificial Intelligence and Education: What's in Store for Future Students?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is taking every industry by storm. Whether it be in computers, business, or medicine, people all over the world are adopting the ways of AI and implementing them in their work. There have been many changes brought upon people's professional careers based on the advances of AI. People have looked into the ways careers will be affected by these alterations, but has anyone explored the relationship AI will hold with educating future students?

A big part in educating students is conducting appropriate assessments to determine a variety of things, including where a student stands and what can educators do to improve teaching. The methods used to design these tests have evolved overtime. From doing tests on paper by filling out bubble answers, to having testing online, the education system has come far. With AI in the picture, educators have gained resources that allow students to excel in ways that weren't possible before. 

Firstly, the involvement of AI within academics would result in the expansion of traditional student assessments and beyond. Educators should expect testing to be done efficiently, with lots of data gathered on a student's progress. Additionally, the  advances of AI would allow educators to develop intelligent, AI-based tutoring systems that make the process of tutoring more meaningful and efficient for students. Through the process of machine learning, these systems are able to build their own rules and generate lessons and assignments that are tailored towards a student's specific needs. 

Based on these proposed programs and systems, a lot can change. In regards to the way students are taught, many questions can be asked: Will students need to attend school in-person if they have all the resources in one device? What will happen to teachers and their careers? Will the way school is being conducted be the same in the next 25 years?
