Week 8 Blog #1: MBA 6101: AI- The Big Picture

AI- The Big Picture with Todd Kelsey

 Throughout the book, "Surfing the Tsunami", Todd Kelsey describes the ways one can implement AI into their lives. AI has a huge impact on the world and our day to day lives. We may not realize how much we depend on AI throughout our day. AI requires a lot of thinking, brainstorming, and research, but it can be done. There are collections of articles, studies, and analysis throughout Kelsey's book explaining how AI should be taken very seriously. In order to convince readers to take action and build a habit of learning more about AI, different scenarios were presented for more vastness to relate to. Nonetheless, sometimes you need to look around and see a few examples of what other people are doing in order to get your brain working, as Kelsey suggests. 

Throughout the book, Kelsey emphasizes the importance of AI and how readers should consider becoming adept and involved with AI in some way. A big way he suggests his readers do so is by encouraging and challenging people to read and understand what AI really is and what it is capable of. As I was reading this book, I was surprised by the amount of times the author suggested us to take AI very seriously. He consistently explains the reasoning behind many different technologies and how AI is incorporated within it. For example, the author talks about how AI is incorporated into healthcare and how it can be very beneficial for patients. By using AI in the healthcare field, the advancements can help diagnose patients more accurately and allow doctors and other healthcare workers to spend more time with their patients. Kelsey describes AI as the next big thing and how it will be incorporated into everything down the years. He also expresses how people should learn about AI even if its just the basic as what AI actually is and what's its purpose. Something I really liked approach Kelsey's approach is how he emphasizes taking baby steps. Not only did that help me engage more with this text, but it also allowed me to efficiently grow my understand and interest in AI.
