Learning AI: The Dos and Don'ts  Chapter four of Todd Kelsey's book, "Surfing the Tsunami" talks about the three suggested ways to respond to AI, focusing on Adapt. At this point, adapt can be considered the first level towards learning how to appropriately respond to AI. It's considered good, but not the best way to react. Moreover, learning to adopt the ways of AI is important because it allows an individual to "learn more and pay attention" while one "...keeps aware of where things are heard" (Kelsey, 2020).  In addition to addressing adaptation as a 'do', Kelsey also focuses on others. An important one he addresses is the urge to gain experience in AI. There was repeated emphasis placed on how experience is needed to learn AI, and in order to do this, one must establish a routine (Kelsey, 2020). Based on someone's goals, a routine can vary from person to person. A great way Kelsey advices to create a routine and gain experienc...

Digging Deeper: How AI Influences Healthcare Artificial intelligence (AI) has dramatically affected careers in all fields and industries. As a student, I haven't seen the effects of it as much as others in the working field have. However, I know it is something that is going to affect the future of healthcare- the career I am pursuing. With this in mind, I did some research on my own of the ways AI has recently influenced all parts of healthcare.  Healthcare is a field where people would least expect AI to be. However, recent events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have proved these perspectives to be wrong. An article written by The University of St. Augustine  mentions how artificial intelligence will improve healthcare in 4 ways: (1)Improve diagnostics/detecting diseases, (2) advancing treatment, (3) boosting patient engagement and adherence, (4) and supporting administrative and operational workflow (2020). Nonetheless, the advancements brought from AI will allow a he...

Artificial Intelligence: What's Your Perspective? With so many changes being brought upon society, people from different age groups, different professional fields, and different parts of the world have multiple views on the effects of artificial intelligence (AI). Nonetheless, everyone has a different perspective on how artificial intelligence should be dealt with. In the book "Surfing the Tsunami",  Todd Kelsey mentions the three perspectives people have when it comes to their views on AI. They're either an optimist, a pessimist, or a realist.  Optimist Within this perspective, an individual will generally have a positive outlook throughout every situation. When they focus on the good, people tend to be hopeful of the potential and influence AI holds. A moderate amount of optimism is healthy. When people remain highly optimistic, however, they sometimes step out of reality and become blindsided. Nonetheless, if someone has an optimistic view on AI, Kelsey recommend...

Will AI Ruin Our Children's Future Careers? There is no doubt that the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing stronger by the day. Todd Kelsey's book, "Surfing the Tsunami", emphasizes why it's so important to not ignore AI. In fact, everyone should be a realist towards this subject, by acting "...on the data, both good and bad" (Kelsey, 2018). Without a doubt, AI is bound to bring changes to the professional field, by either replacing jobs, creating jobs, or removing jobs. But, the real question is, how will these changes affect the ways our children work, and make a living? When it comes to one's children, every situation is taken seriously. Everyone wants the best for the future generation, which is a factor into why so many people are against the advances in AI. Simply, majority of the population thinks robots or software will out-qualify humans, and there is data to support their concerns. According to an article written by CBS N...

Alexa, Play The Song "This is How We Do It" With artificial intelligence (AI) on the rise, there's different approaches and methods that are being applied. Chapter 2 of Todd Kelsey's book, "Surfing the Tsunami" looks into the ideas of Autos and Autonomy associated with AI. In other words, he looks at the four A's that can be used to simplify our perspective on the complexity of AI.  Kelsey helps us better understand AI by think of the four A's: Autos, Advice, Automation, and Analysis.  The first A, autos, refers to the complexity currently found within automobiles, such as self-driving cars, as a clear, physical example of what AI is capable of (Kelsey, 2018, p.34).  The second A, advice, gathers a variety of  data and breaks it down into simpler terms based on our needs and wants. By looking at the patterns of data, which can be as simple as what we prefer when writing papers, to what music we like to listen to, this form of technology has been tai...

With All This Competition, Tesla Stands Above It All After Tesla launched their unique, all electric cars, the car company shook the entire automobile market. There was truly never a self-driving, electric car before that people compared to a smartphone. Tesla is prestigious for multiple reasons: it's remarkable reputation in the car world, it's outstanding performance in the stock market, it's ability to make the impossible a possibility, and so much more. But, the world has caught up with Elon Musk and the creators of Tesla.  According to a Forbes article written by Jim Motavalli, writes how a variety of automobile companies, ranging from Bentley and BMW to Honda and Ford plan to become all battery-powered by the year 2035. As brands are starting to lean towards a greener approach, Tesla may be outnumbered in sales by companies that are marketing more affordable electric cars. It may become hard for Musk's company to remain on top. Regardless, Tesla still remains as...

Artificial Intelligence: People Have it All Wrong  In today's day and age, when most people hear the term 'Artificial Intelligence' or AI, they immediately think of Chat GPT or programs that act as art generators. Although the usage of artificial intelligence is becoming popular and common, all people associated it with is using to finish their projects and assignments, or using it to have a little fun. However, people don't understand the true potential it holds, and how humans can use it to remain on top. The working force has several opinions on what the future will look like with artificial intelligence playing a big societal role. As AI seems to be on everyone's radar, all people seem to worry about is how these advancements will leave everyone jobless. In part, this is true. With AI having quite the impact on businesses and large corporations, there will be a shift in the job market. Some jobs may be taken, while other jobs may be created, and others may be ...
